We are very involved with work around the Human Rights Act – our members tell us that this is important to them, – they feel it is the “only law that includes everyone human – it has human in the title”. We work with the British Institute of Human Rights on this.
Our Campaigns Group recently looked at Health – and our members told us they were worried about getting appointments, travel to hospitals, health passports and annual health checks. Our findings have been included in the Pembrokeshire Learning Disability Strategy, so they will be part of a plan to improve things for all people with learning disabilities.
We are now looking at Employment, and hoping to be really honest about the barriers to work for our members, and what we can do to change these.
We also meet regularly with our local MPs and AMs, and feed in to national bodies such as All Wales People First.
